Your harness is more than just a piece of your gear. A proper fit is essential for power transfer, comfort and avoiding pressure points or injuries. Whether you are kitesurfing, windsurfing or wingfoiling, at Prolimit, we know performance starts with the right fit. That’s why our harnesses are built with industry-leading innovations like our Mark Load plates for optimal load distribution without creating pressure points and advanced materials like PURE™.
Load Plates: The Core of Prolimit’s Harnesses
All our harnesses are shell based designed harnesses. This means a 3D profiled outer shell that follows the curves of your body perfectly. This is the base of the harness that determines fit, flexibility, stiffness, and maneuverability. Although harnesses might look the same, internally they are completely different and create a completely different harness.
The load plates form the core of the harness. The inside of the load plates are supported by dual foam and neoprene layers for comfort and forgiving snug fit. On the outside of the load plates is the outer shell. The different load plates determine the comfort and support of your harness. Combined with other features like inner belts, slide-in bar pads, and the tightness of your harness fit, they create adjustable stability.

Comfort Is Key
Comfort is key when you spend hours on the water. Prolimit harnesses are made with soft neoprene edges to stop chafing, and feature dual foam-soft on our body, stiffer on the outside-to transfer and distribute the load force evenly. Our innerbelt system absorbs shock loads on your kidneys and back. Creating a nice snug fit and preventing the harness from riding up.
Prolimit uses adjustable straps and sizing systems to allow for a personalized fit.
The Right Fit, The Right Bar
Our harnesses are built to provide pressure distribution and enhance comfort during long sessions. Every harness is supplied with an Alpha bar or our Pin Release stainless steel bars.
Another tip we recommend is to tailor your harness further with different size bars. Bars are very size-sensitive and using a shorter or longer bar than originally supplied can make a noticeable difference in comfort and performance.
The Prolimit Pin Release system adds an extra layer of safety. In extreme situations, the pin can be pulled as a safety to release the entire harness from your body. Our harnesses designed for kiteboarding are equipped with a short leash connection on the front of the harness. The Pin Release bar features a steel loop, while the Alpha bar harnesses are equipped with a solid alloy loop.

Designed With Specific Needs of Different Water Sports in Mind
Prolimit harnesses are designed with specific needs of different water sports in mind. For wingfoiling, lighter, low-profile harnesses allow for maximum freedom of movement. The pull from a windsurfing harness is more horizontal, while a kiteboarding harness has a vertical pull when a kite is at 12 o’clock. This means the connection of straps and the bar are tailored to that sport. A windsurfing harness hook also has a different shape (easy to hook in and out) compared to a kiteboarding harness (stump nose) and a wingsurf harness as well.
Seat harnesses for kiteboarding and windsurfing are designed specifically for the sports. Legstraps and halfrelease legstraps are constructed differently in different materials. Kiteboarding seat harnesses have tougher and heavier legstraps while windsurfing seat harnesses have flexible neoprene padded legstraps.
The Right Harness for Your Riding Style
Not only are our harnesses designed with different water sports in mind, they are also designed keeping different riding styles in mind. Different riding styles require different support levels.
We offer a wide range of harnesses, each designed for specific needs. High-back waist harnesses with low sides provide maximum freedom of movement, while lower-back harnesses with internal flex zones and medium sides give a solid, supportive feel. The different internal constructions are tailored to suit your individual needs, whether you're into windsurfing, kiteboarding, or winging, with variations in bar constructions, hook designs, and bar heights to match each sport.
A proper fit doesn’t just enhance performance and joy on the water; it extends your gear’s lifespan by reducing unnecessary wear.
