OUR MISSION

dive into the future of wetsuits

100% neoprene free

This is a revolutionary moment in wetsuit industry. From our 2024 fall collection onwards, all our wetsuits will be 100% neoprene free and FSC and CE approved.

our mission

With innovation at the forefront of our mission, we’ve continuously pushed boundaries in wetsuit design. The transition to even more sustainable wetsuits, free from neoprene, marks an exciting step forward. We are proud to deliver world-class, high-quality wetsuits utilizing a technology that is entirely new to the market.

Our aim

Our aim is clear: to reduce the carbon footprint while delivering top-notch performance.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and prioritizing eco-friendliness in our products. That’s why we utilize specially recycled, eco-friendly raw materials whenever possible and employ innovative techniques to minimize impact on the environment.

NaturePrene2®

NaturePrene2® is a biobased rubber derived from FSC-certified rubber trees. With NaturePrene2®, you'll enjoy the same stretch, warmth, insulation, and durability as our current lineup, all without compromising on cost.

Our journey

The journey doesn’t end there! Our design team is already setting their sights on the future, aiming to develop waste-free wetsuits by 2026.  Join us on this exciting journey towards sustainability and performance. Every dive is a step towards a brighter future with Prolimit Natureprene.

100% neoprene free materials

We use neoprene-free materials, highlighting our commitment to sustainability without compromising performance or comfort.

FSC certified

Proudly FSC certified. Ensuring our products come from responsibly managed forests, promoting environmental sustainability throughout our supply chain.

Oyster shell powder

Utilizing Oyster Shell Powder in our materials to promote sustainability, with additional unique properties for our products.

Green manufacturing process

Our green manufacturing process prioritizes environmental responsibility, minimizing our ecological footprint while crafting high-quality products with exceptional performance and durability.

Soybean oil

The incorporation of soybean oil into our materials enhances sustainability and performance in our products.

PAH, ROHS and reach compliant

Our wetsuits are PAH free and 100% REACH compliant. Being REACH compliant means we have successfully eliminated the use of extender oils in our neoprene sheets, contributing to a healthier environment. REACH is an EU regulation aimed at improving the protection of human health and the environment from risks associated with chemicals used in production processes.

Eco carbon black

Carbon Black is a key ingredient in producing neoprene. Our eco-friendly carbon black is made from recycled tires, which are shredded and transformed into powdered carbon black. Unlike traditional methods, this process reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 200g per wetsuit.

Water-based glue

The laminated neoprene sheets are cut into panels and assembled to create neoprene products such as wetsuits. All our wetsuits are laminated using aqua-α, a water-based glue. Unlike traditional glues, this water-based glue is solvent-free and chemical-free, removing 99% of impurities. This process helps prevent latex allergies.

Development

TIMELINE DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION

2017

Prolimit Eco suit

Prolimit’s first wetsuit featuring a more sustainable type of neoprene, Yulex plant-based neoprene, derived from the guayule plant. This plant is a sustainable resource, requiring minimal water and thriving in dry regions unsuitable for other crops. Utilizing this plant-based source, Prolimit was able to significantly reduce environmental effects (saving 2.0 kg of CO2 per wetsuit). Additionally, Yulex neoprene meets the performance characteristics of traditional neoprene, offering flexibility, durability, and insulation.

TIMELINE DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION

2018/2019

NaturePrene 1 introduced

Prolimit introduced NaturePrene 1 and achieved official FSC (ForestStewardship Council) approval and certification, recognizing the reduced environmental impact. While working on our rubber materials we started to explore making the outer lining of recycled Polyester yarn which are undergoing a dope dyeing process saving 90% water. At the same time we introduced compostable packaging on all of our wetsuits. Using water-based ink for printing, using natural colors, and with the solvent free water-based glues for our lining.

TIMELINE DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION

2020

PF-1 series introduced

Introducing a full series of wetsuits using the FSC approved NaturePrene 1. All of our lessons learned came together in the first PROLIMIT FUTURE SERIES wetsuit. A 100% sustainable wetsuit. Combining natural rubber, PE bottles inner lining, recycled polyester outer lining, in a compostable packaging. Being an industry leading brand launching these on the market was a big step in neoprene development.

TIMELINE DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION

2022

PF-2 series introduced

For the PF-2 series the Natureprene was further improved to enhance softness and flexibility/stretch. The next big steps were weight, flexibility and freedom of movement which became noticeably better on the PF-2 series. Maintaining the recycled PE Bottle lining with the Recycled Polyster outer lining. We also combined the water-based glues on all areas including seams and lining.

TIMELINE DEVELOPMENT EVOLUTION

2024/2025

NaturePrene 2 introduced to the entire range

NaturePrene 2 is now used across the entire range of Prolimit products, significantly enhancing sustainability and greatly reducing our environmental footprint. Additionally, this year, Prolimit wetsuits have achieved official CE approval, indicating compliance with European safety, health, and environmental protection standards. For the PF3 wetsuit series, a new material was introduced made from Rubber tree-based neoprene, which is made from natural rubber sourced from rubber trees. These trees can be tapped for latex without being cut down, making it a sustainable option. Therefore, making it a continuous supply of raw material without deforestation. Rubber tree-based neoprene retains the essential properties of traditional neoprene, including flexibility and elasticity, making it suitable for applications requiring stretch and durability. It provides good insulation, maintaining warmth in wetsuits and other protective gear.
